"A positive pregnancy test can be wonderfully exciting, nerve wracking, or even sometimes a bit scary! All of a sudden life seems a bit overwhelming and the questions begin to surface. Is everything going to be ok? What do contractions feel like? Should I have a natural birth or just go for the epidural? When should I go to the hospital when I'm in labour?  No questions is ever too small or insignificant for a qualified doula! If you are seeking the best support possible for your upcoming birth, I offer personalised doula services to meet your distinct needs.  As a Doula, my philosophy is simple – I am here to support you in YOUR birth. I have the expertise and experience to provide you with the physical, emotional and informational support needed to help you have the birth you desire."

How Can I help Help Before The Birth Of Your Baby

Before the big day, working as your doula I can help you:

  • Answer questions about what to expect and helping you come up with a list of further questions for your midwife or doctor.

  • Be aware of all your options, and what you can ask your healthcare providers about – for example whether you can have delayed cord clamping. Learn comfort measures for prodromal or early labour, as some women start labour prior to their C-section, even when it’s scheduled.

  • Arrange sessions with a Craniosacral therapist. CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance - especially during pregnancy and preparation for a C-section.

  • Know what to pack to be comfortable before and after the birth.

  • Prepare for breastfeeding after a vaginal birth and a C-section.

  • Provide pregnancy support. I am available for any pregnancy-related questions and concerns.

  • Know what to expect during recovery, and what you can do to prepare for it.

  • Prepare a birth plan which might include things like music, newborn procedures, skin to skin desires, etc.

  • As your doula I can also help you process some of the feelings you have. I’ll be a sounding board for your concerns, and help prepare your partner to support you during and after surgery.

  • Recovering from a birth, and particularly a C-section can be challenging. Providing in-home preparation for your recovery, by helping you plan where you and baby will sleep during the initial recovery period is also an option. It’s wise to avoid or limit using stairs in the first week, for example, and to take lots of time to rest in bed.

  • You get the same doula support whether you have a vaginal birth or a C-section!
